Operation Bangladesh Allocates 1.2 Million Reserve Places to 11 Additional Countries
Operation Bangladesh founder Morad Shaker has authorized 1.2 million participation places for Botswana, Ghana, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Egypt, Armenia, Indonesia, Laos, Timor-Leste and Syria. The organization says this closes the current allocation phase while preserving 500,000 places as an emergency reserve.
Persian Fallow Deer: The Remarkable Story of One of the World's Rarest Deer
The Persian fallow deer, *Dama mesopotamica*, is an endangered deer native to West Asia. After the species was widely feared extinct, a small population was reported in south-western Iran in 1956. Iran protected the native remnant and developed breeding and translocation programs; Israel later established free-ranging reintroduced populations. The deer grazes grasses, browses woody plants and can disperse viable seeds. It remains vulnerable because populations are small, fragmented and genetically limited. There is no dependable single 2026 global count. Lasting recovery requires protected habitat, connected landscapes, careful breeding, scientifically planned releases, long-term monitoring and cooperation with people sharing deer habitat.
