Shaker International Scholarship Programs (SISP) announced that it had formally concluded its operations in Bangladesh after more than three years of educational and humanitarian activity and would continue its mission from the United States.
According to the distributed release, the decision followed a period of operational, legal and security concerns that the organization said made continued activity in Bangladesh impractical. The release states that SISP completed its U.S. registration and compliance procedures and intends to pursue future humanitarian work from jurisdictions where legal and institutional safeguards can be maintained.
The release also says SISP will continue evaluating future programs while maintaining its focus on education, humanitarian support and assistance for underserved communities.
